Hela means light, Bima means land.
Hela Bima means Land of Light.
We are growing 2,000 year-old ancient varieties of rice which provide whole food for health and healing.
The Hela Bima Rice Project is awakening and educating the world, honoring the farmers, their rice and well-being.
“I am honored to share my family’s heritage, contribute my centers of influence, and my business experience to gain US recognition of the Hela Bima Rice Project.”
Louis A. Gardner, CLU, is widely known in the Independent Financial Planning industry through his many years of working with major insurers in management, case design, and product shaping capacity.
Beginning in 1987, Louis helped Pacific Life develop and distribute the first Variable Universal Life product accessible to the Broker/Dealer Community. His roles with Nationwide Insurance Company, and Vice President of Brokerage for New York Life, gave Louis product expertise to assist clients with complex advanced design services and product placement.
Today, Louis blends his professional expertise with a deep-seated 400-year history in the farming industry as a visionary and board member with Hela Bima.
Though he is not a farmer, the fact that his family has farmed the same piece of land for generations gives Louis pride to say he has farming in his blood. Reflecting on his formative years, Louis touts the efforts of his elder who was a champion of the elderly and responsible for placing into legislation The Meals on Wheels program. The Center for Disease Control (CDC) campus in Atlanta, GA, is named in his honor.
He mentions this because his family’s farmer background recognizes an opportunity to help when needed. The rice farmers in Sri Lanka lived in trees, and their children had no schools. That condition has changed since Louis and his peers decided to involve themselves in this project.
“Just as conditions changed for rice farmers in Sri Lanka, our customers who gain nourishment from the rice realize the gift was from the farmers all along. To grow, harvest, and distribute ancient grains is an incredible gift of love from these most humble people.”
“I am privileged to have met Dr. Jayanath Abeywickrama who opened my eyes and heart to the poverty-stricken farmers of Sri Lanka. With this inspiration, I launched the Hela Bima Rice Project to raise awareness of the farmers’ ancient sustainable farming methods with a goal to become a template for all rice-growing nations to grow healthy, wholesome food for our world without the use of chemical and harmful fertilizers.”

Doing this also helps to provide much-needed support to the farmers in Sri Lanka. I am passionate about sharing our brand and mission with others and believe we have the power to influence a better world. “

As an Environmental Studies graduate of the University of Montana, Kelly is strongly aligned with the community-minded and self- development ideals that are being fostered among the farmers who grow rice under the Rankema brand in Sri Lanka. She recognizes the need for ecologically responsible farming methods, using traditional seed varieties free of harmful chemicals.
It is the mission of the Hela Bima organization to support rice farmers in Sri Lanka that sparked Kelly’s interest.
Kelly is based in the North Lake Tahoe region where she works as Project Leader for Hela Bima World. She began attending Dr. Abey’s Wisdom Teachings and Events in 2015. “As the project continues to expand, we are seeking volunteers and ambassadors with a passion for creating change in the world. Those interested are encouraged to contact me about opportunities to help expand the organization’s sales footprint and bring our ancient and blessed rice to more communities.”
